Objects from my Everyday
aesthetically pleasing objects that I enjoy everyday
Today, I’m writing something different and shorter than my usual posts as I’m preparing my cultural intake post from February, which will go live this week. I’m also planning a long-form essay about a great exhibition and a new series about art history.
Although I wrote in a previous post my inclination to gatekeep certain things, I’m happy to share some of my favourite objects, which are as aesthetically pleasing as they are practical for those looking to elevate their everyday lives with beautiful and tasteful objects.
I’ve always been an aesthete, and looking at beautiful moodbards brings me joy and inspiration. When I was thinking about this post, the moodboard became my canvas. I like to surround myself with tasteful objects (which are also practical for most) as they truly elevate a mundane task or the monotony of my everyday.
I’ve been drinking matcha before it became a trend, I’m talking back to 2014 when I tried my first matcha. Although it didn’t become part of my everyday ritual until a few years later, I appreciate sipping my matcha in beautiful glassware. I also deeply enjoy making my matcha at home with a beautiful set. A few years ago, I also started to incorporate collagen powder, and I’ve been rotating between Bare Biology and Vital Proteins. I almost forgot, a fundamental tool, my beloved kettle from Fellow, in black matte, of course.
If I’m staying home, writing on my computer, I enjoy lighting a Dyptique candle with matches or a beautiful vintage lighter. On my desk, I display several books that I’m currently reading or planning to read, alongside my notebooks. I love writing notes and tasks on paper, and I’ve been using these types of notebooks from Moleskine alongside their daily planners for years. However, I’d love to upgrade to a beautiful one like the ones by Smythson. I’m also eyeing on a gorgeous Louise Carmen notebook that I’d like to customise entirely. A little pleasure is also to moisture my hands with a nice hand cream, and apply regularly my favourite lip balm from Nuxe.
When I’m looking for inspiration, I started reaching again for physical magazines. Although I love Pinterest, there’s still magnetism to print that digital can’t reciprocate, and I guess that’s the beauty of it.
Perfume was always something deeply important, although for almost 2 years, I did not wear any as I was breastfeeding and was self-conscious. I recently also started buying from niche brands, and I’ve been complimented on my new signature scent many times.
I wear SPF religiously daily. I used this one from Caudalie for several years, but my new favourite is from Beauty of Joseon. When it comes to sun protection, I live for wearing sunglasses, and my latest splurge was these beauties from Cartier.
Earlier this year, I became obsessed with Toteme. This led me to purchase their gorgeous croc-effect flip-flop sandals, which elevate my everyday uniform. Since I was also on the quest for a very long time for a tote bag, I succumbed to investing in their croco-embossed bag after falling in love at first sight.
Last but not least, I appreciate beautiful watches, and I’m now looking at vintage finds to source the one currently on my wish list.
Thank you for reading, and if you enjoy this type of content, let me know so I can create more content like this as well.
