I can’t believe I launched Giselle daydreams a few months postpartum as a way to escape the chores of being a new mum and write about art, cinema, literature, and architecture. I’d never imagined that this passion project would enable me to meet amazing and like-minded people who appreciate the same interests and exchange ideas about art, fashion, cinema, and photography.
Thank you to all of you <3
I also wanted to share that I launched the second collection of my fashion brand Neithé Atelier, so if you enjoy elevated womenswear made out of natural fabrics, ethically and sustainably produced as possible (I operate as made to order), feel free to visit Neithé Atelier’s website and follow us on Instagram.
I won’t be writing a long post today, but instead sharing some previous posts that I believe those of you who are newish may appreciate.
The Art of Good Taste
Happy Sunday and welcome back to Giselle daydreams! Today, I decided to write about something slightly different from art, architecture, cinema and literature per se, but something that has always been meaningful to me that I’ve never written about. This is the art of good taste, and how good taste is omnipresent in my daydreaming musings. In the future…
The Elegant Dreamer: Rodney Smith’s Whimsical World of Surrealism
Happy Sunday and welcome back to Giselle daydreams! Today’s post is inspired by one of my readers Søren, who shared with me the work of Rodney Smith, a photographer whom I didn’t know before, but who took Surrealism as a source of inspiration in his black and white photographs.
Le Bonheur de Vivre
Happy Sunday and welcome back to Giselle daydreams! I wanted to write about Henri Matisse a while ago, but I didn’t manage to do so yet. When I first decide to introduce a new artist here, I usually feature an artwork I particularly admire by the artist in question. In the case of Matisse,
Post-Impressionism: Beyond Appearances
Happy Sunday and welcome back to Giselle daydreams! Today, I decided to feature the latest exhibition I visited a few weeks ago at the Louvre Abu Dhabi, Post-Impressionism: Beyond Appearances. Most of the artworks on display are loans from the Musée d’Orsay, and while admiring each artwork one after another, I felt transported back in time. For those vi…
The Alhambra Palace: A Timeless Symphony of Art, Architecture, and Andalusian Splendour
Happy Sunday and welcome back to Giselle daydreams! This is my last post of the year, and I’m proud to have managed to post weekly since the beginning of July.
Leonor Fini: the Defiant Dreamer of Surrealism
Happy Sunday and welcome back to Giselle daydreams! Sorry for being absent the last few weeks. Launching my own business is taking a lot of my time, and I didn’t have the opportunity to think about a good post to write. If you’ve been reading this newsletter for a while, you know that I love writing about
Leighton House, an Oriental fantasy house
Happy Sunday and welcome back to Giselle daydreams! Today, I decided to write about one of my favourite houses in London, Leighton House. This is truly a hidden gem, and I like to nickname it the Oriental Fantasy House.
Venus through the Ages: beauty, art, and the everlasting muse
Happy Sunday and welcome back to Giselle daydreams! First, I have an exciting announcement. I’ve officially launched my conscious fashion label Neithé Atelier grounded in luxury and using fabrics such as silk, linen and cotton. For those interested, head over to
Francis Picabia: The Instigator of Style and the Art of Contradiction
Happy Sunday and welcome back to Giselle daydreams! Today I decided to write about Francis Picabia who I consider a chameleon of Modernism and the enemy of orthodoxy. When it comes to his oeuvre, he’s deeply unfaithful to movements, but loyal to provocation, subversion and the art of refusal. He sits in between the Machine and Metaphor but he’s radicall…
